Game Overview

Sixto is a dice game for 1-6 players aged 8 and up, with a duration of approximately 15 minutes. The box contains six types of score sheets, with each player using a unique sheet. The sheets have six rows in six colors, matching the colors of the dice.

The active player rolls all 6 dice and has the option, if desired, to reroll all the dice once. Each player can now use 0-6 dice from the displayed set to mark the indicated boxes, with each die used only once and in its own color. You can only mark boxes from left to right, skipping boxes is allowed, but going back is not. In each row, the last 3 boxes are “the target area,” which can only be marked once at least 4 boxes in that row are already marked. When 2 boxes in the target area of a color are marked by a player, that row is considered closed, and the respective die cannot be used anymore.

The game ends after removing the third die, followed by scoring points. What makes Sixto unique is that you score not only each row but also each column. Having only 1 mark in a column results in negative points.

Review

Sixto is a new game in the familiar roll & write genre, closely resembling Quixx but distinct enough to warrant having both in your collection. Scoring both rows and columns adds an extra tactical dimension to the game. It’s a fast and enjoyable game that holds its own in the existing roll & write genreβ€”ideal for on the go, vacations, or quick breaks!
