How to play?

🏝️ The quest for El Dorado is a competitive deckbuilding game. The search goes through the jungle over different types of terrain that you can cross using the cards in your deck. Before the game start you lay down the route all adventures are going to take. There are multiple scenarios in the rules and you can improvise a route yourself.

🏝️ Each turn you start with four cards in your hand. Each base deck consists of eight cards with symbols matching the playingfield. A cleaver for the highlands, peddle to cross water and coins. The four cards in your hand determine your actions. Each turn you have two choices: the first (1) is to move. You discard card(s)  matching the move you make. You can move as far as your hand lets you. The Second option (2) is to extend your deck and purchase new cards. You can buy one card per turn with the coins on the cards. Each card without a coin, is worth Β½ coin. The cards you played or purchased are on the discard pile.

🏝️ In the second phase (2) you can discard cards form your hand to your discard pile. The third phase (3) is to replenish your hard to four cards from your draw pile. If your draw pile is empty, you shuffle your discard pile and draw that cards.

🏝️ Along the quest for El Dorado you will encounter various obstacles, like unbridgeable mountains, large oceans and villages that make you destroy cards from your deck. Each scenario has it’s own challenges.

πŸ’‘ OUR OPINION

We are very enthousiastic about this game. The basic rules are simple and that makes the game very good to play with less experienced games. There are a lot of different scenario’s that ensure enough challenge for more experienced gamers.

We also really enjoy the balance in this game. We played several times, and very time the finish was very close. The game is enjoyable with both 2 and 4 players. We highly recommend this game if you look for a fun deckbuilding game or a game to introduce new players
